2. Home Alone

The top movie for the second time around is Home Alone. One of the best comedy flicks, Home Alone managed to increase its popularity following the release of the sequel. In Home Alone, a teenager, Kevin McCallister, moves home with his mother, Debra (Sandra Oh), after the death of his father. With the help of his friends, Kevin must learn to adjust to his new surroundings. There are some cute moments, but the theme of a house full of crazies may not be for everyone.

In this second installment of the Home Alone 2 series, Kevin McCallister is once again burdened with the mission of finding someone he knows to be in the hospital. This time, however, he discovers that the hospital is under attack by the villain, Hector Barbossa (Pedro Siciliano).

The good news is that there are other Children from school who can help, so Kevin decides to form a rescue group. Along the way, he bumps into Debra’s sister, Claire (Haylie Duff), and learns more about her life than he ever could have imagined. While it can be argued that the characters in this movie are too old to appeal to kids, it is a nice surprise and Home Alone does a nice job of reviving the appeal of these youngsters’ favorites.

When it comes to the kids movie that introduced the generation of the superheros, Disney’s Fantasia was one of the best movies for children. Even if you didn’t like Disney’s first attempts at live action cinema, Fantasia will make you enjoy their later efforts.

A mixture of music and dance, Fantasia follows the story of 3 animals who escape from a farm, and become famous singers and dancers in modern-day London. The storyline may seem simple, but the way the Disney artists create cute, dreamlike settings along with fantastic songs makes the movie something you don’t want to miss.

4. Saving Private Ryan

Probably one of the most classic movies for children, Saving Private Ryan is another great kids movie you should check out. Based on the true story of Private Ryan, a member of the armed forces is presumed dead after his plane crashes near the Canadian border. Unfortunately, the princess who Westley is in love with is engaged to marry a prince, so this prince must be killed in order for the young man to have a chance at being with the girl.

Based on the book by Jacqueline Woodson, the story follows a cat, a dog, and a bird who find themselves lost at sea.
